We went to Utah the first weekend in June for Nick's uncles wedding. It was not the best vacation ever. There was actually only a couple of hours that went over well. Sad to say over a 3 day period of time. It all started with Thursday morning at 230 am and downward spiraled from there.
Matthew woke up at 230 am with a high fever of 103.2. So i knew that we had to take him into Goodnight Pediatrics to see what was wrong before we caught our flight, if we could catch out flight. We hurriedly got dressed and threw our suitcase in the car. ( I forgot quite a few things ) We made it to the pediatric urgent care at about 315 and luckily made it out by 415, with the diagnosis of a strep throat. No fun. Then we ran to Walgreen's to fill his prescription and from there to the airport. Where we only made our flight because we got to skip the security line because we had a baby with us. We boarded our flight and it is now about 630 am.
We are all tired. The three of us only got about 3 hours of sleep the night before. Matthew fell asleep as soon as the flight took off, luckily. Nick slept for a little bit and i got nothing. : ( Nick's parents picked us up from the airport and we head straight for temple square for the wedding. We were not going to the sealing but would just be outside for well a long time, you know how the weddings work, you wait and wait and wait. Anyway, I was beyond tired, so was Matthew, I looked like i had been hit by a bus. literally. I had no time to get dressed that morning or do my hair or makeup or anything and all i wanted to do was sleep. So standing outside the temple, waiting for the sealing to be done and then come to find out, take a few family pictures......... did not make me so happy. I tried to put on a good face, but its hard when you feel and look that bad.
While we were waiting, i went to the visitors center restroom and tried to fix what i could of me and Matthew...... didn't help much. ( which is why you will see not very many pictures at the temple because well i didn't take any and don't like the ones others took. : ) To make a long story short, we were at temple square until 2pm, including lunch at the lion house, in which during both Matthew and I had a little meltdown. Matthew wouldn't stop crying because he was so tired and refusing to eat because his throat hurt and he had a fever. So his crying made me start bawling because i was so tired and just couldn't help it. Not one of my better moments.
Anywho, we finally got to take a short nap ( one hour, not long enough ) and catch a shower before the reception. I'm not gonna even talk about the reception because that was a whole other bad experience. Suffice it to say, we didn't get home until about 11pm. And then Matthew stayed up screaming until 3am. Oh yes, it was that much fun. Luckily we slept in until 10 am of the only good day of the trip.
Friday, we hung out at nick's aunt suze's house, which was nice and relaxing and then went to his Uncle Mike's for a BBQ. We had fun at his uncles playing outside at their amazing house and chatting and what not. He had a huge house and land. It was amazing. They live up in Heber and it is just beautiful. It was pretty cold though. On our way up we had to stop and buy Matthew a sweater and shoes because we had forgot them in our rush. It was great until we headed back to suze's and didnt get there til 11pm again and Mathew cried again until 2am.
Saturday we drove home with nick's parents, which Matthew did not enjoy, which in turn i didnt. Oh well. We did enjoy seeing Nick's cousins and his sister Shantelle that lives in Texas. That was the most enjoyable part of the trip. So i am glad we got to see them, although i just wish it hadn't started the way that it did. Better luck next time i guess.

oh my word, that DOES sound horrible! you poor thing! another medal though to add to your collection of mommy badges
I'm SO not looking forward to those experiences! Especially with the in laws around. I'm sad you didn't get to come to Logan, but it sounds like it was the better choice. Shasta may not have been impressed by her first impression of Matthew and he needs to make a good impression if they're gonna get married some day! :)
By the way, I love your hair!
Sorry Babs. That is rough. But the pics with you in the fields looks fun.
