So without further ado, things we did in January and February.
In January, Nicholas and I took a trip to Disneyland which we got for Christmas. It was amazing. Anytime we go to Disneyland is fun but this time just seemed better. We stayed at the same hotel as our honeymoon, which was nice but next time we are going to pick one that is closer to the park. Walking that far is not fun, but good exercise.
Cars land was open in California Adventure, can we say AMAZING! We loved it. It was seriously almost the best part of the whole trip. It was like we were in the movie. We got pictures with lightening McQueen and red. I kept wishing that Matthew was there with us, he would have been in heaven. The new ride was also the best.
Our last day at Disneyland we also ate at the Blue Bayou in Disneyland. It has always been a dream of mine and it was wonderful just like I thought it would be. The food was delicious and the company even better.
We also went to downtown LA and saw the Chinese Theater and all of the famous hand prints. I have some pictures of that somewhere but I'm trying to organize my pictures right now and its a mess and they are on my phone and so forth.....blah.
The same day we also went and saw a battleship from WWII. It was huge and the rooms were tiny. Talk about claustrophobic, and im not a fan of the sea. So i'm glad that I will never be drafted. : )
In February we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa Walker as they left on a medical mission to the Dominican Republic. They left on Elizabeth's 1st birthday, February 25th, 2013 and will be serving for 18 months.
We had a family dinner before they left and Lizzy and I went shopping with grandma the week before they left and basically spent as much time as possible at their house. We miss them soo much. Matthew is constantly talking about Grandpa Doctor Mission. We face time and Skype them frequently, so that is definitely nice and we are grateful for modern technology.
Elizabeth also turned 1 at the end of February. On her birthday we had a simple birthday party with some family. I made her a Minnie mouse cake, it was adorable. And like I said earlier, i have pictures somewhere. I'm a wonderful mother, ha ha.
Elizabeth basically gets into everything, everywhere. she is also a climber. : ( she is constantly climbing onto the kitchen table and on the computer desk and anything else she can get on top of. Elizabeth is also a table dancer. No joke. Turn on music, she will get up there and dance. Its hilarious.
She is also the happiest baby that you will ever meet. 99% of the time. She loves to clap and gets excited about the smallest things. I am also thankful that she loves to snuggle and is so good at giving hugs and kisses. Lately she has been learning a few signs; all done, more, please, milk.
We also switched her to cloth diapers in the past month. Which has been wonderful. I always thought it would be too gross but was sick of her always getting diaper rashes. Elizabeth has super sensitive skin and could only wear huggies. I was sick of spending the money on high priced poop catchers. So thanks to Kimberly and her amazing blog post, we switched and will not look back. All my babies from here on out will be cloth babies. We love it and so does she. Plus she looks so adorable just waddling around her in cloth diaper. ( its Arizona babies can go just diaper when its 110 degrees outside )
In February Matthew also started Preschool. Yay. It was a very bitter sweet day. Matthew was beyond excited. He loved getting ready and putting on his back pack that he picked out at Target. He loves his backpack and would show it off to anyone who came over to the house. Its fitting since it is a monkey and he has been a monkey baby since he was born.
I cried when I dropped him off for school. I didn't think that I would, but I couldn't help it. MY baby was official not a baby anymore. At first he was scared to go in because of the big bus next to the classroom door but after he saw some other kids he was excited and didn't even care to say goodbye. He ran in and never looked back. It was that way pretty much every day. After about a week he started to ride the bus to school which he loved even more.
School has been amazing for him. He has learned so much and finally talks. Yay. He is still a little behind in his speech but at least now we have words and almost sentences. Next year he will continue to work on his speech and also getting some sensory things under control. last night in the car he was just going on and on about pirates and islands and dinosaurs and grandpa mission and who knows what. Nick was beyond happy that he could finally be having this conversations and that Matthew was finally asking why why why. He loves it!

Oh my goodness, where to start? I have to work backwards with what's freshest in my mind.
First of all, Matthew looks so tall! I can't believe he's going to school and I was shocked when I read he takes the bus. That makes him seem so grown up. I can't imagine Shasta doing that and I know I'll cry when she starts school because she's no longer completely dependent on me and I'm no longer the main influence in her life. Why do our babies have to get big?!
Love that you ca diapers over priced poop catchers! I don't think I'll ever be a cloth diaper mom. Maybe when I'm done with school, but I doubt it. I'm glad`you like it though!
You've got to get video of Elizabeth dancing on the table. That sounds hilarious! I can't believe she's a year old. They grow up way too fast.
I miss your parents too. You have the best mom. It makes me sad that it's been so long since I've seen her.
I'm glad you got to go to Disneyland. And I'm jealous. Nick wants to plan a trip for 2 years from now so it'll be fun for our kids, but I doubt we'll ever be able to afford it. I've never even been to Adventure Land before. So sad.
Um, in the second set of pictures, top row, right side, that picture of you is super cute! From the hair to the eyes to the smile and dimple... it's all just super cute! You're so pretty!!!
Okay, I think I covered everything. Phew!
love the update, so much has been going on! i didn't know how constantly happy elizabeth was, that is so adorable (and nice for you!) and matty is in school on a SCHOOL BUS at that?? crazy cute! can't believe your parents left on their mission, i bet they're doing so awesome. and i'm really glad you decided to do cloth, we really love them too, i still haven't quite figured out a night time diaper solution other than disposable, have you? i'm still waiting for those stinking charcoal bamboo ones to get here, they're taking AGES. have fun in that HEAT!!!!!
Thanks for posting! I do like to know what is going on in your life!
Looks great!
