Petersen Family: Happy Five Months Matthew!

Today Matthew is five months old! Crazy how fast he has grown up in the past five months. He is now mostly a master at eating rice cereal and fruits or veggies. He has tried applesauce, green beans, carrots and peaches. So far he hasnt had any objection to any of them although he prefers them with rice cereal, the pure fruit or veggies is so liquidy to keep in his mouth and i think he prefers the kind of dulled tasted that the cereal gives to them. Kind of makes the new stuff not so shocking. Speaking of shocking, matthew got his first taste of chocolate mouse today at Ikea. I probably shouldnt have given it to him but i couldnt resit and it was only a tiny bit. He seemed to like it. : ) I have got to start his addiction early so that he will eat chocolate deserets with me, unlike his father.
Matthew now weighs about 16 pounds. He went to the doctor last week for thrush again and that is how much he weighed, so i think the new diet is helping with a little weigh gain. Plus i swear every time i get him out of bed in the morning he has grown a few inches. He feels so tall.
Matthew also loves to roll. He is such a little rolly polly. I will put him on the floor and he will roll all over. often getting himself trapped in the coffee table or i will find him on the wood floor very far away from where i put him on the carpet to play for a few minutes. he also does this crawling thing with his legs where he lifts them up and pushes off but he doesnt know what to do with his arms. ( still trying to get those coordinated with his brain, he can no reach for the things he wants though and actually grab it. ) So i think it will still be a little bit before he crawls.
Sleeping through the night has also become an almost normal thing. He goes to bed between 8 and 930 and then will get up once between then and about 130 am to eat and have a diaper change. ( he still soaks up those night time diapers, but its better then changing it every three hours at night like the other ones ) He will then sleep until about 830 am. Unless he is extra hungry and then he might wake up one other time. Mommy is very happy that he is finally getting his sleeping in order. He also has his naps down to almost a schedule. He takes 3 naps a day and the times very depending on how long his nap before was. But he basically has a morning nap, a afternoon nap and one about 5. The 5 o clock one is the shortest but he still definelty needs it. Matthew has also started sleeping on his side and stomach. Side i am a fan on, stomach not so much. But what can ya do, once they start rolling they think they are in control. : )

Back when he was only minutes and hours old. Oh how they grow.
