So basically Lizzy is growing like a weed. When she went for her month visit, on the 16th, the doctor was way impressed with her growing skills. They usually look for the baby to be gaining about an ounce a day, and most of the time will even take half an ounce, our little eater was gaining 2 ounces a day. And she just kept growing from there. She hasn't changed very much length wise, so its all going her to chubby cheeks and oh my goodness chubby thighs. Lizzy has the chubbiest thighs. The size one diaper she is in makes little marks on her legs from the elastic thing around the diaper. I would switch her to size 2 but i think they would be too big, even though the ones are a little small. Maybe ill try one later today and see how it fits. She hasn't leaked out of the 1s yet and since i have a ton, she'll probably stay there, even with the leg marks.
She doesn't do much, except eat and sleep and well thats about it. : ) She is starting to be awake a little bit more, and just this past week, has she started to be on some kind of schedule. She wakes up for the day at about 7:30/8am. Then she eats, is awake for about an hour and then she goes back to sleep til about noon. Then she wakes up and is awake for a half hour/ 45 mins before going back to sleep. Then she wakes up around 3pm, eats and that is where her schedule ends. She might go back to sleep, or she might be fussy or she might just be awake and calm. She eats again at about 5 and then again at 7pm and then usually goes to sleep, until about 10pm. I then feed her and she sleeps until about 3am, goes to sleep and starts her day all over.
Her fussy period is definetly in the afternoon/evening. Which is hard because that is when i am trying to do dinner and all that other nightly stuff. It is also a new thing for me because Matthew never had a fussy period. Seriously. He was amazing. He got fussy sometimes, but never at a certain and never every day. Hopefully this is just a phase.
Elizabeth has been eating on a shield since she has been born. I had to do the same thing with Matthew. However in the past 3 days she has learned to eat without it. We haven't used one since yesterday morning. Which makes me super happy. It is so much easier to nurse without using a shield. It is a little bit more uncomfortable, pain wise, but it is drier. Milk gets everywhere when using a shield. Of course we don't have not using it really down, so milk still gets everywhere. I try not to laugh when she gets milk squirted in her eye. : )
Overall though, she is a great baby. She doesn't cry when she wants to eat, unless i make her wait a long time. And in the middle of the night she never cries to eat, she grunts. Its pretty cute and its nice not to wake up to crying. Thankfully she is down to eating once between 10pm and 7am.
She is so adorable and i am grateful that she has joined our family, even though having two children can be quite trying at times.
