King George

On February 3rd, Nicholas and I were able to go see George Strait and Martina McBride. It was so much fun. It was our last get away before having two children. We dropped off Matthew at my mothers house on Friday after, with a little over night bag. He got to spend the night with Grandma and Uncle Joseph who was in town for the weekend. We then went and checked in at Talking Stick Resort. Talking stick is amazing. Its a resort/casino place in Scottsdale. We felt very rich and the room was amazing. My favorite part was the bathroom, specifically the bath tub. ( Nick said it was a pregnant lady thing )  Most bath tubs are not deep enough, this bath tub was almost perfect. It was deep and amazing. I so want one. If i ever re-due a bathroom, that will be the one thing that i will be very specific about. I need a bath tub that will let the water cover you, not just half your body.

Then we met Nick's parents for dinner at the Cheesecake factory in Scottsdale. Interesting note, when we pulled up to the resteraunt, nick and i were like, we have been here before. Which we realized we had, on a Prom date his senior year and my junior year. We were in the same group. How funny is that? It was kinda weird deja-vu thing. Anyway, dinner was delicious and then we headed to the concert!

Martina McBride opened, which was amazing. It was like two concerts in one. She was really good live. I was surprised with some of the songs she sang, i didn't know they were hers.

Then King George took the stage. He was amazing! It has been on my bucket list to see him before i died. And i never thought that would actually happen. I figured he would stop touring before that happened, since he is getting kinda old. He announced in the concert that he got a new grand baby the night before. I was like wow, your a grandpa, and yet your still going strong. He sings amazing live and i love the pink shirt he was wearing. :) He just looked like a genuine cowboy and it reminded me of the movie Pure Country because there was minimal lights and all the mumbo jumbo, it was just him and his guitar. When he sang the song Old Trubador, they showed different pictures of him from the eighties and wow, he is getting old. He has aged nicely though. It was fun to see the pictures and where he was come from. Its amazing to me that he has been singing for so long and is so loved. I think that it shows what a true musician he is and how country music, especially his, touches people and never goes out of style like a lot of singers do.

We didn't get back to the hotel until midnight and we were beyond tired, but it was so worth it. In the morning  we enjoyed the casino buffet and then walked around the resort before checking out and heading to Tempe marketplace to do some shopping before heading back to pick up Matthew. It was nice to have 24 hours just to ourselves and not have to worry about taking care of a baby.
